Mini helicopter crashes in Dauphin Island marsh; no serious injuries
A mini helicopter tumbled into a marsh on Dauphin Island Tuesday, with both people aboard walking away mostly unscathed.
According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, the two-seat personal aircraft — possibly a Magni gyrocopter — went into the marsh north of the Dauphin Island Bridge, about 40 yards west of the Dauphin Island Parkway.
Both people aboard were treated at the scene and released.
In a Facebook video posted by Chester Sprinkle, the small, yellow aircraft can be seen flying low to the ground, perhaps looking for a place to land, before tumbling into the marsh.
The sheriff’s office said the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified.
