Michael Oher’s lawsuit against Tuohys not about money, he says: ‘I’ve got millions’

Michael Oher says his latest lawsuit against Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy is not about the money.

The former NFL and Ole Miss star, in a new interview published by “The New York Times Magazine,” explained Sunday his reasons for the lawsuit he filed more than a year ago to end of a conservatorship by the Tuohys.

The lawsuit alleges the Tuohys lied about adopting him while making millions off his name.

“I worked hard for that moment when I was done playing, and saved my money so I could enjoy the time,” he told the ‘NYT.’ “I’ve got millions of dollars. I’m fine.”

Oher, the Super Bowl champion earned $34 million from the three NFL teams he played for, per Over the Cap, a site that tracks NFL salaries,

Both Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy called Oher’s lawsuit “outlandish” and a “shakedown” for money in a prepared statement a year ago.

The Tuohys – in a statement co-authored by the couple and their legal team – said the idea that the family’s relationship with the former Ole Miss star – which was portrayed in the Oscar-winning movie “The Blind Side” – was motivated by selfishness and greed are “hurtful and absurd.”

The former NFL offensive lineman filed a 14-page petition which states he wasn’t adopted. In fact, less than three months after Oher turned 18 in 2004, the couple tricked him into signing a document making them his conservators.

The petition alleges the Tuohys used their conservators status to make deals that made the Tuohys – and their birth children – millions in royalties from the movie. Oher, on the other hand, got nothing that he says “would not have existed without him.”
