Mexican restaurant chain popular across south Alabama, Florida coming soon to Mobile
Cactus Cantina expects to be open for business in Mobile within 60-90 days, according to a member of management.
The Mexican restaurant franchise, with seven locations across southern Alabama and west Florida, purchased the 4,800 square-foot building at 2409 Schillinger Road in February for $2.5 million, according to White-Spunner Realty, which represented the seller.
The building was previously occupied by a Mellow Mushroom franchise.
The first Cactus Cantina restaurant opened in April 2011 in McDonough, Ga. and its success prompted the opening of a second location in Gulf Shores in March 2013. Since then, five more locations have opened — two in Orange Beach, two Pensacola, and one in Fairhope.
The Schillinger Road location will be the first in Mobile.
Matt Claxton, Manager of the Gulf Shores location, said the Mobile restaurant will employ about 50 people.
