Mel Kiper ranks Alabama’s Bryce Young No. 3 QB on NFL Draft board, points to one glaring issue

Mel Kiper Jr. loves Alabama’s Bryce Young.

The Heisman Trophy winning-quarterback has everything you want in the position, but there is a reason the NFL Draft guru has Young listed as the third best quarterback on his draft board and fifth best prospect overall heading into the 2023 NFL Draft.

“It’s the size,” Kiper said on a guest appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up.” “At 5-11 and a half, about 185 to 190. That’s something we haven’t had at the top of the first round ever, really.

“I think you look at Bryce Young, he’s the ultimate point guard. He processes better than any of the quarterbacks I’ve seen in recent memory.”

Kiper has Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and Kentucky’s Will Levis ranked ahead of Young.

“There’s a lot to love about Bryce Young,” he said. “Just wish he was a little bigger. He doesn’t have the frame of a Russell Wilson or a Kyler Murray, so he’s not going to be able to put on a lot of weight. Can he hold up at 5-11 and a half, 185-190 in the NFL? That’s the question moving forward at the pro level.”

Alabama’s Will Anderson Jr. leads the list of prospects, followed by Georgia defensive standout Jalen Carter, Stroud and Levis.
