McDonald’s announced return date for fan-favorite snack item
There’s finally a return date for the McDonald’s Snack Wrap. The cult favorite will return July 10, according to CNBC.
“We listen to our fans, and the Snack Wrap’s return is a testament to that,” McDonald’s U.S. President Joe Erlinger told The Associated Press.
In a 2024 interview, Erlinger confirmed that Snack Wraps– the simple snack with lettuce, cheese, chicken, and signature sauce inside a flour tortilla–would return to the menu in 2025.
Then, on April 15, McDonald’s posted a clue about the Snack Wrap’s return on X, indicating it would return on the 14th day of yet-unnamed month.
McDonald’s first launched the snack wrap in 2006, and the item became a crowd favorite, particularly for the $2 price. The Golden Arches discontinued the Snack Wrap in 2016.
The reason?
Low return on investment, the company said.
While the wraps looked simple, they were actually complicated to make in a timely fashion, compared to assembling burgers and chicken sandwiches, reports Food & Wine. While demand for the wrap was high, the time spent preparing the item wasn’t worth the low price, especially since the chain was confident customers would continue to spend money at McDonald’s if they cut the item, reports Eat This, Not That.
McDonald’s is extending its hours
McDonald’s plans to extend hours at locations across the country starting this summer.
Restaurants in non-traditional locations like airports and shopping malls will likely not extend hours, the company said. Franchise owners will decide which menu items will be available during the late-night hours.
