McDonaldâs bringing back McRib, year after farewell tour; Hereâs where to find it
McDonald’s is bringing back the McRib sandwich, a year after giving it a “farewell tour.”
“It turns out not everyone was ready to say goodbye to the McRib after last year’s Farewell Tour,” a McDonald’s rep said in a statement. “While it won’t be available nationwide, some lucky fans may find their favorite elusive saucy sandwich at their local McDonald’s restaurants this November.”
The McRib won’t be available at all McDonald’s locations, but consumers can check mcriblocator.com to find where it’s closest to them. The McRib Locator website posted it will be updated when McRib sightings are confirmed in the coming weeks.
The McRib, which comes in at 520 calories, features a seasoned, boneless pork patty smothered in ‘cue sauce and piled with dill pickles and onion between a toasted bun.
According to MarketWatch, a “scarcity tactic” has always been the marketing plan around the McRib. One of the appeals to the McRib is that it isn’t around for long.
Restaurant Business, a trade publication, quoted McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski about the “farewell tour” last year.
“The McRib is the GOAT of sandwiches on our menu. And so like the GOATs Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, and others, you’re never sure if they’re fully retired or not.”
The Wall Street Journal story noted that McDonald’s sold more than 60 million McRibs in a three-year period because it was so “limited.”
