May this college football playoff committee and its ‘principles’ rest in pieces

College football drives the bus. College football pays the freight. Without college football, so many other college sports would not be possible.

That’s what the block-and-tackle bros like to tell us, and they’re not wrong. So why is it that, when it comes to the most valuable property in their sport, the College Football Playoff, the people who run the show are thicker than Cam Skattebo’s neck?

If you don’t know, Skattebo is the beast-mode tailback at Arizona State, a wide and wild load who’s a nightmare for linebackers and tailors alike. The Sun Devils are the No. 12 team in the country, which would be just inside the cut line in the first 12-team playoff, just behind No. 11 Alabama, in a world that made sense.
