Mason Sisk retrial: Convicted former sheriff Mike Blakely testifies, jurors see confession video
Jurors on Tuesday saw a video in which an accused Elkmont teen admitted to killing five members of his family in 2019 during this second trial on capital murder charges.
They also heard testimony from the former sheriff of Limestone County, Mike Blakely, who is currently in jail following his conviction on theft charges.
Sisk is charged with the murders of five family members in 2019 when he was 14 years old.
According to WAAY, Blakely said in court that Sisk’s story “wasn’t adding up, which is why we advised him of his rights.”
WHNT reported that Sisk’s phone showed he called his girlfriend four times before dialing 911.
In the video played at trial, Blakely could be seen questioning Sisk, telling him that calling his girlfriend before 911 is “not normal.”
At one point, while denying any connection to the murders, Sisk was heard to say, ” I didn’t do anything with it. I didn’t kill my parents. I didn’t kill my brother and sister.”
After further questioning, Sisk finally admitted the crimes, saying, “I was fed up of all the fighting, and yeah, I killed them.” He then told them where the murder weapon could be found.
Sisk said in the video that he was “fed up” with his parents arguing and didn’t want his siblings to grow up in that kind of environment.
Blakely denied using “manipulative interrogation tactics” on Sisk.
Blakely reported to the Franklin County Jail in February following his conviction in August 2021 of one count of theft and one count of using his position for personal gain. He was sentenced to three years in jail.
