Authorities have released the names of a man and a woman killed in a head-on crash in Birmingham.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victims as Jayla Nicole Rowe, 28, and Earian Rakim King, 30. Rowe was from Birmingham, and King lived in Fairfield.

The wreck happened at 1:11 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of Springville Road.

Rowe was driving a Nissan Altima and King was driving a Chevrolet Lumina when the two collided.

Rowe was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:32 a.m.

King had to be extricated from his vehicle by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation by Birmingham police.
