A 34-year-old man wanted in connection with violent assaults on two women in Nashville was taken into custody in Birmingham.

Koreen Bush, of Birmingham, was arrested Friday by East Precinct Task Force officers at a family member’s home in the 900 block of 52nd Way North.

Bush had been sought by the Metro Nashville Police Department since late June. He is charged with aggravated assault and sexual battery.

According to Nashville police, the separate attacks both happened on June 24.

The first assault happened about 10:30 p.m. that Saturday. The victim was walking on 24th Avenue South in Nashville when she was tackled and pushed to the ground.

“She was strangled, fought back and the suspect fled on foot,’’ Nashville police said.

The second assault took place about 30 minutes later on Demonbreun Street where a woman was groped while waiting in line to enter a bar.

Other women reported that he tried to grab them as well, police said.

While searching for Bush, Nashville police noted that he had stayed at the Nashville Rescue Mission and was possibly in homeless encampments.

Nashville authorities said they received information on Bush’s location in Birmingham and forwarded that information to Birmingham police.
