Man thrown from motorcycle when he hits animal is killed by car in Blount County
A man was killed Saturday night when he hit an animal, was thrown from his motorcycle, and then hit by a car.
Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Gary L. Wilkerson. He was 67 and lived in Oneonta.
The crash happened at 8:55 p.m. on Blount County 12, about eight miles south of Oneonta.
Senior Trooper Vu Quang said Wilkerson was driving a Harley-Davidson Road King that collided with some kind of animal on the road. He was ejected in the impact and thrown into oncoming traffic.
Wilkerson was then hit by a Toyota Camry driven by 52-year-old Matthew Dempsey of Oneonta and pronounced dead on the scene.
The investigation is ongoing b troopers.
