A man was discovered in a Huntsville garbage truck after he apparently had been sleeping in a dumpster.

The incident happened about 12:22 a.m. Tuesday, according to HEMSI spokesman Don Webster.

EMTs were called to 3002 Memorial Parkway after a man was found in a garbage truck.

The man had apparently been sleeping in a dumpster when the truck arrived to collect garbage. He was only discovered after the dumpster load had been deposited in the truck.

“There are cameras in the compacting area of the truck,” Webster said. “The operator saw the guy’s head moving around and he stopped it immediately, thankfully.”

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Services. He is in stable condition.
