Birmingham police say a man was shot dead at a Roebuck motel just before noon Tuesday.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said the incident happened at Parkway Inn, in the 9200 block of Parkway East.

Officers were called to the motel at 11:51 a.m. in response to a shooting. When they arrived, they found an adult man on a motel balcony with an apparent gunshot wound.

Wade said the man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the man was involved in an altercation with someone, weapons were drawn, and the victim was struck by gunfire.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
