Man shot dead by brother in Fort Morgan: Sheriff

A man shot and killed his brother during a lengthy argument between the two Monday night in Fort Morgan, according to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 2800 block of Fort Morgan Road about 9:40 p.m. Monday after a report of shots fired.

Arriving at the scene, deputies located an unresponsive adult male in the front yard of a residence, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medical personnel arrived and initiated life-saving measures, but they were unable to revive the victim, later identified as Jason Estabrook.

Initial investigation determined the two men had argued throughout the evening and, at some point, James Estabrook armed himself and shot his brother three times, according to the BCSO.

James Estabrook was taken into custody at the scene, later charged with murder and transported to the Baldwin County Corrections Center, where he is being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.

According to the jail docket, James Estabrook is 49 years old and a resident of Huntsville. Additional information on Jason Estabrook was not immediately available.
