Man seriously injured in accidental Birmingham shooting

An investigation is underway after a man was seriously injured Tuesday in an accidental Birmingham shooting.

Birmingham police and Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded at 11:42 a.m. to a report of a shooting in the 3000 block of Five Mile Creek Road.

They arrived to find an adult male inside a truck who had been shot in the leg.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the man’s injuries are life-threatening.

It wasn’t immediately clear, Fitzgerald said, if the injury was self-inflicted.
