A man on a bicycle was killed after he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene early Friday morning in Talladega, police said.

Talladega officers were dispatched to the intersection of Stephen J. White Boulevard and North Street East around 4:58 a.m. Friday on a call of an injured person, the department said in a Friday afternoon Facebook post.

The victim, 37-year-old Talladega resident Pierre Tremayne Winston, was found at the scene along with a bicycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Investigators determined Winston was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene of the wreck.

Winston’s body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy.
