Man killed, woman injured in head-on crash on U.S. 280 in Shelby County
A man died and a woman was injured in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 280 in Shelby County, authorities said Thursday.
Donald M. Harris, 76, was driving a 2010 Toyota Tacoma that collided head-on with a 2023 Mazda CX-9 around 3:53 p.m. Wednesday about three miles south of Chelsea, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Vu Quang.
Harris, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
A 46-year-old woman who was driving the Mazda was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued investigating the wreck.
