A man was killed and his passenger was injured early Friday morning after the ATV they were in wrecked in southeast Alabama, authorities said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 85 and Geneva County Road 45 in Bellwood just after midnight Friday, authorities told WDHN.

Jesse Duran Howell, 40, of Enterprise, was killed in the crash, Geneva County Coroner Donny Adkinson told the station. Howell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Howell’s passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the wreck and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Both ATV occupants were not wearing seat belts at the time of the wreck, authorities said.
