A man was found dead from an apparent hit-and-run in Bessemer.

Officers were dispatched at 5:45 a.m. Saturday to a report of a man in the road in the 2600 block of Eighth Avenue North. It was not immediately clear when he was struck.

Bessemer police Det. Justin Burmeister said the victim was pronounced dead on the scene. His identity has not been released.

Investigators are working to identify the vehicle and driver.
