Authorities have identified a man who died Monday after authorities say he was struck by lightning.

Florence police Sgt. Ryan Kelly said Marquin Russell, 28, of Florence, died following the incident that happened Monday in the parking lot of the Florence Industrial Park, 3155 Kendall Drive.

Florence police, fire and EMS responded to a medical call and found Russell struck by lightning.

The man “succumbed to injuries he received during the storm,” Kelly said.

Parts of North Alabama were buffeted Monday by yet another round of summer storms.
