Man killed after truck leaves highway, hits tree on I-65 in Mobile County

An Alabama man died Tuesday afternoon when the truck he was driving left the highway and struck a tree on I-65 in Mobile County, authorities say.

Harold Saranthus Jr., 64, of Chunchula, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck around 12:24 p.m. Tuesday near the 19-mile marker in Creola, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Anna Peoples.

Saranthus was driving a 2016 Ford F250 when the truck veered off the highway and hit a tree.
