A Columbiana man has died after a two-car crash in Shelby County, state troopers said on Sunday.

Andy C. Walton, 77, died after being taken to Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, according to a report from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Walton was critically injured while riding in a 2015 Nissan Altima on Alabama State Route 76, less than a mile from Childersburg. The crash happened around 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22.

Troopers said Linda A. Walton, 75, was driving the Nissan, She was injured and transported to the hospital at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for treatment.

The Nissan was struck by a 2008 Honda Accord, state troopers said in a news release. The Honda was driven by Jerome D. Kelley, 32, of Vincent, according to the release. Kelley was also injured and transported to UAB.

State troopers are continuing to investigate.
