A death investigation is underway after a man was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon in Montgomery.

Montgomery police and fire medics responded to the 2800 block of Fieldcrest Drive around 2:27 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a person shot, said Lt. David Wise.

Authorities found the victim, 38-year-old Montgomery resident Thomas Berg, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Berg was taken to a local medical facility where he was pronounced dead.

The circumstances of Berg’s death remained under investigation Tuesday evening.
