Man fatally gunned down outside Fairfield business in apparent targeted attack
A man was shot to death Monday outside a Fairfield business.
The deadly shooting happened about 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot of FireRock Products, a paver manufacturer. That location is at 3620 Avenue C in Fairfield.
Authorities said an employee of the business was on a break in the parking when someone opened fire on him in what appeared to be a targeted attack. Multiple shots were fired.
The 47-year-old victim was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:15 a.m.
No arrests have been announced. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
The victim marks the fourth homicide since Friday night throughout all of Jefferson County:
– A 52-year-old man was shot to death Friday night in Adamsville. A suspect has been charged.
– An unidentified man was fatally shot early Saturday in Midfield. No arrests have been announced.
– A 32-year-old mother was killed early Sunday at her McCalla home. Her husband is held on capital murder charges.
In all of Jefferson County this year there have been 49 homicides this year.
