Man ejected, killed in 2-vehicle crash in Birmingham’s Crestwood community

A man was killed when he was ejected from a vehicle in a Birmingham crash.

The wreck happened at 9:22 p.m. Monday on Fifth Avenue South at Crestwood Boulevard.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the fatality victim was a passenger in a two-vehicle crash. The victim’s vehicle hit a utility pole, causing him to be thrown.

He was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:48 p.m.

It was not immediately clear if anyone else was injured.

Yates said the victim was an adult Black male, but he had not yet been identified as of Tuesday morning.

Birmingham police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the wreck.
