Man dropped off at Birmingham hospital with fatal gunshot wound; investigation underway
An investigation is underway after a man was fatally shot early Saturday in Birmingham.
West Precinct officers were dispatched at 2:20 a.m. to Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Hospital staff told police someone dropped off the victim.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said officers and detectives are still trying to determine where the shooting happened.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
The man is Birmingham’s 21st homicide this year. Of those, three have been ruled justifiable and therefore aren’t deemed criminal.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 28 homicides including the 21 in Birmingham.
