Man dies from wounds days after south Alabama shooting
A Loxley man shot during an exchange of gunfire last Tuesday has died from his wounds, the Baldwin County Major Crimes Unit announced Monday.
Stanley Koenig Sr. suffered an unknown number of gunshot wounds during the incident and was transported to a local hospital with what were at the time described as life-threatening injuries.
He died sometime over the weekend, authorities said.
Loxley police and Baldwin County deputies responded to reports of shots fired at a residence in the 13000 block of Highway 90 in Loxley about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
After responding to the scene, the Major Crimes Unit was called in.
Preliminary investigation indicates Koenig and the unidentified suspect exchanged gunfire at Koenig’s home, with Koenig struck at least once during the exchange.
Investigators say they are in the process of interviewing witnesses and processing evidence. No other details are being released.
