Man dies after being shot by Huntsville police
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating a shooting Thursday by a Huntsville police officer that took the life of a man.
ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) announced this afternoon it has launched an investigation into the officer-involved shooting at the request of Huntsville police.
The incident happened near the 500 block of Monroe Street in Huntsville. Huntsville police said the incident happened around 6 p.m. Thursday.
Huntsville police officers arrived at the scene to find Sterling Keyon Arnold, 43, who authorities say had a handgun. During the incident, Arnold was shot and later pronounced dead.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The investigation’s findings will be turned over to the Madison County District Attorney’s Office.
