Man dies after being partially ejected from van on I-65 in Jefferson County
A man was killed Thursday morning after he was partially ejected from the van he was driving as it overturned and struck a tree on I-65 in Jefferson County, authorities said.
Brandon R. Watson, 35, of Madison, was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle wreck around 7:51 a.m., said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Vu Quang.
Watson was driving a 2019 Chevrolet 2500 Express van when the vehicle left the highway, struck an embankment, overturned and hit a tree, Quang said.
Watson, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was partially ejected from the van.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near the 279 mile marker, about one mile south of Warrior.
Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued to investigate the wreck.
