Man dies 8 days after shooting in west Birmingham

A Birmingham man has died more than a week after he was injured in a shooting on the city’s west side.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Ladarrius Antonio Kennedy. He was 31 and lived in Birmingham.

The shooting happened at 10:50 p.m. Monday, July 19, at 1017 Third Ave. West.

Authorities said the shooting followed an argument between the victim and another man outside the Chevron. Additional details have not been released.

Kennedy was taken to UAB Hospital where he died at 4:42 a.m. Tuesday.

He is Birmingham’s 94th homicide this year. Of those, eight have been ruled justifiable and aren’t deemed criminal.

In all of Jefferson County, there have been 119 homicides 2024, including the 94 in Birmingham.
