Man dies 6 days after found shot on front porch of home in Birmingham’s Inglenook community
A man shot one week ago in east Birmingham has died.
East Precinct officers were dispatched at 10:35 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, to the 4400 block of 41st Place North in Inglenook.
Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said officers arrived to find the victim on the front porch of a home.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service transported the man to UAB Hospital. He died Thursday at 12:41 p.m.
His identity has not yet been released.
Wade said investigators learned the shooting happened in the 4100 block of 46th Avenue North. After he was shot, he walked about two blocks and knocked on the door of a home before collapsing.
The homeowner called 911 for help.
Wade said further details on what happened are limited. No arrests have been made.
The man is the city’s 111th homicide this year. Of those, eight have been ruled justified and two others happened in previous years, but the victims died in 2024.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 142 homicides including the 111 in Birmingham.
