Man convicted of murder in 2021 Mobile double homicide

A Mobile County jury on Thursday convicted a man of two counts of murder in the double homicide of two men four years ago on I-10, prosecutors said.

Ardis Perez, 29, was found guilty for the 2021 murders of Dwan Williams and Andre Carter, who died after the vehicle they were in was shot into by Perez on Nov. 21, 2021, said Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood.

Perez is scheduled to be sentenced April 17, prosecutors said.

Co-defendant Keith Richmond, who was also charged with two counts of murder, was set to begin his trial immediately after Perez’s trial.

On Thursday morning, Richmond pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

“It’s a great day for justice,” Blackwood said in a statement. “This case was hard-fought and speaks to the dedication and tenacity that our prosecution teams have for our victims.”

The State of Alabama was represented by Assistant District Attorneys Madison Davis and Louis Walker along with Trial Coordinator Amanda Sumrall, Victim Service Officers Leigha Arthur, Reagan Frost and Investigator Ricky Campbell.
