A suspect was arrested and charged with rape and child porn-related offenses after the Walker County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from a national task force.

An investigator with the sheriff’s office assigned to cases involving the Internet Crimes Against Children task force received a tip from the organization in December.

A report was also made to the sheriff’s office during the investigation, the office said Tuesday in announcing the arrest..

The investigation led to the identification of a suspect, Nevada Reid Elkins, who was arrested at his home and charged with first-degree rape and third-degree possession of obscene matter containing visual depiction of persons under 17 years of age involved in obscene acts, the sheriff’s office said.

Further details on the allegations against Elkins were not immediately available.
