Man arrested in shooting after Alabama high school graduation party that killed teen
A man has been arrested for murder for his involvement in a deadly shooting after a graduation party in south Alabama.
According to the Mobile County Sheriff‘s office, Gradrick Overstreet Jr. was arrested Wednesday for the murder of Jaylon Rivers, 19.
On May 12, a graduation party was held in Mount Vernon on Tom Hopkins Roads before the homeowner ended the gathering around midnight.
But according to the sheriff’s office, some of the partygoers moved to the cul-de-sac at the end of the road.
That is when an argument broke out between Rivers and a juvenile leading to gunfire being exchanged between the two.
Rivers was struck and later died from his injuries.
The juvenile suspect was charged with felony murder and robbery.
Gradrick’s charges include felony murder, attempted murder and first-degree robbery.
