Man arrested for firing into occupied vehicle in Foley family car shooting

Foley police have arrested a Bay Minette man in connection to a Feb. 4 incident when the window of a family’s car was shattered by gunfire.

Demerius Kevon Dailey, 23, was arrested by Foley Police on five counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. Deputy Chief of Police Kevin Carnley said the arrest came after detectives found evidence at the scene that led to the discovery of an additional car and victim that was the alleged shooter’s target. Area agencies were then alerted to the suspect’s identity and vehicle information.

“Detectives determined that the shooter struck our initial victim’s vehicle as he was shooting at his intended target, which is now our second victim in the case. Our investigation has not indicated any evidence of the early reports of a gun battle. In fact, our evidence points to one shooter on foot with complete disregard for the safety of nearby residents or anyone in passing cars,” Carnley said.

Officers received a call on Sunday, Feb. 4 reporting gunfire near Juniper Street and Azalea Ave. Shortly after the calls, a family with two small children arrived at the police station and reported hearing shots before their vehicle’s back glass shattered.

Dailey was arrested Saturday morning and the investigation is ongoing.
