Man allegedly shot wife then shot himself Thursday morning, Mobile police say
The Mobile Police Department has released more information about a shooting Thursday that left a woman dead and a man suffering life-threatening injuries.
The woman — identified as Carrie Jenkins, 61 — and man were married, police said. The police have not released the man’s identity.
Officers responded to a reported shooting about 11:48 a.m Thursday in the 1700 block of Long Meadow Road, in Mobile’s Claremont neighborhood. When police arrived, they found Jenkins and her husband shot.
Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said her husband allegedly shot her first and then shot himself. No other details about the shooting were available.
The man remains in the hospital. Police said his identity would be released once he was charged and booked into Mobile County Metro Jail.
