Man accused of murdering man found wrapped in blanket on Huntsville bridge
A man has been denied bond after allegedly committing murder and leaving the victim’s body on the Whitesburg Bridge in Huntsville.
According to court records, Daniel Ray Shelton, 55, was denied bond Tuesday by a judge. Shelton was arrested Sunday for allegedly killing Daniel Merrit, 39, by shooting him.
Merrit’s body was found Friday on the north side of the bridge‘s roadway in a blanket. Huntsville Police Department investigators said that evidence suggest Shelton shot Merrit during an argument and attempted to drop the body into the Tennessee River.
Shelton is charged with murder and corpse abuse.
