A 78-year-old man was arrested on murder charges in the fatal shooting of a 59-year-old woman at a Troy trailer park following a domestic dispute Thursday, police said.

Troy police were called to the 100 block of North Ridge Circle around 3:30 p.m. Thursday on a call of a person shot, police told WDHN.

Officers found the victim, 59-year-old Essie B. Meadows, dead from a gunshot wound in the front yard of her home in the trailer park, police said.

Larvy Woods, 78, of Troy, was identified as a suspect in Meadows’ slaying. He was arrested in the same trailer park.

Woods and Meadows knew each other, WDHN reported, and police characterized the shooting as a domestic incident.

Woods is being held in the Pike County jail without bond.
