Male shot during argument in north Birmingham, just yards away from police officers on separate call

A male was rushed to the hospital after being shot Tuesday afternoon in northern Birmingham.

Birmingham police officers were at one small apartment building on a call when shots rang out just yards from them. The gunfire erupted 1024 12th Street North.

Officers put out a call for all possible assistance but quickly got the situation under control.

When the shooting stopped, a male was found wounded in the parking lot of an adjacent apartment complex.

Lt. Richard Haluska said it appears the victim and the suspect were in an argument before the shooting started.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
