Madison’s 20-year plan predicts more single-family housing
Rural space in Madison would decline by three-quarters in the next 20 years under a growth plan that gained a key city panel’s approval last week, while nearly half of properties would remain single-family housing.
The city’s 20-year comprehensive plan draft also calls for concerted efforts to handle growing traffic by adopting policies that encourage walking and bicycling.
Madison’s planning commission voted unanimously to approve the 381-page “Madison on Track 2045” draft, prepared for the city by consultant Orion Planning and Design. The document updates the city’s 2006 and 2010 growth guidelines and was commissioned with a budget not to exceed $298,749.
