Madison County Commissioner talks roads, education and big plans for Juneteenth
Violet Edwards is in her third year as a Madison County commissioner.
She was elected in November 2020 as the District 6 representative, becoming the first African American woman to serve on the commission.
“I’ve spent this time just getting to know the constituents, shoring up the legacy programs that were left here and just charting the path, working for what’s best for the people of District 6,” Edwards said,
Edwards worked at the University of Alabama-Huntsville in the advancement office as the development officer. She also worked in marketing with the UAH college of business. A former journalist, she also worked at WAAY 31.
Edwards has also been involved with non-profit managing, having served as director for Christmas Charities Year Round.
