Luke Metz, 2025 3-star linebacker, commits to Alabama football

Alabama football landed another linebacker commitment on Sunday. Luke Metz, a three-star prospect from Georgia, announced his intent to play for the Crimson Tide.

Metz, a member of the 2025 class, shared the news to his social media, in conjunction with Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports. Metz chose the Crimson Tide over the likes of Duke, Ole Miss, LSU and Tennessee.

The composite ratings at 247Sports list Metz as the No. 48 linebacker in the 2025 class. He’s ranked as the No. 47 overall player in Georgia.

“Instinctive off-ball linebacker prospect that can sift through traffic and make stops in the hole,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivans wrote in his assessment of Metz. “Spent junior season working inside and outside of the box while also getting some looks as an edge rusher. Plays with consistent energy, flashing plenty of range while charging forward. Athletic enough to get the job done in space and handle drop coverage responsibilities. Tends to strike ball carriers and uses impressive grip strength to get them on the ground.”

Metz, who weighs in at 220 pounds and stands 6-foot-3, plays his high school football at Mill Creek. He claims 33 Division I offers.

He became the third linebacker in the past week to join the 2025 Alabama class. Metz joins four-stars Darrell “Duke” Johnson and Abduall Sanders.

The Crimson Tide’s class now includes eight commitments. According to the 247 composite, Alabama’s group ranks No. 6 nationally.
