LSU lands Vanderbilt quarterback transfer AJ Swann

LSU picked up a key SEC transfer on Monday, as former Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann announced he was headed to the Tigers.

Swann, a native of White Creek, Ga., totaled 2,731 yards and 22 touchdowns with nine interceptions in 15 games the last two seasons. A three-star prospect in the 2022 signing class, he will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at LSU.

Swann was among three quarterbacks to transfer away from Vanderbilt after the 2023 season, in which the Commodores finished 2-10 overall and 0-8 in the SEC. Redshirt freshman Walter Taylor (a Jackson native) announced Sunday he was headed to Colorado, while fifth-year junior Ken Seals remains undecided.

LSU, which is 9-3 entering the Jan. 1 ReliaQuest Bowl vs. Wisconsin, loses Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels at the quarterback position. Daniels announced Monday he would skip the bowl game to focus on the NFL draft.

LSU is also set to return veteran backup Garrett Nussmeier and redshirt freshman Rickie Collins at quarterback for 2024. The Tigers are also expected to sign 4-star Florida high school quarterback Colin Hurley on Wednesday.
