Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry blasted as steak dinner goes viral after New Orleans terrorist attack
Jeff Landry contends it was an act to show New Orleans safe and businesses are open.
However, many reacting to a picture of the Louisiana governor smiling outside a steak restaurant just hours after a terrorist attack found it to be poor form.
Landry posted a picture of himself, wife and others on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, outside Bon Ton Prime Rib steakhouse, which is near the scene of the attack.
“Ate dinner tonight in New Orleans,” the post read. “Proud to be a part of this incredibly resilient city. See everyone at the game tomorrow!”
The reference is to Thursday’s CFP game between Georgia and Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, which was scheduled for Wednesday but postponed to Thursday at 3 p.m. because of the attack.
Social media reacted, questioning the timing of the meal.
The governor countered by posting, “It’s important to understand that we have many visitors in the city of New Orleans right now. Safety is our top priority and we want our guests and the world to know that Louisiana does not cower to radical islamic terrorists. Our restaurants and all New Orleans has to offer remain open for business!”
“You should delete this post! It’s incredibly insensitive!” posted @Patriotmom717.
“Dude. Several of your constituents are no longer alive due to a terrorist attack and you thought going out to a steak house with friends and then posting about it was a good idea? Fire yourself,” posted @BurtMaclin_FBI.
“15 people are dead in NOLA and you’re bragging about your steak dinner?” @FaxanFM asked.
