Los Angeles Chargers bring up Eddie Jackson for playoff game

For the third game in a row, the Los Angeles Chargers have elevated safety Eddie Jackson from their practice squad to active status. This time, the former Alabama defensive back will be up for the second playoff game of his career.

The Chargers play the Houston Texans in an AFC first-round game at 3:30 p.m. CST Saturday at NRG Stadium in Houston. CBS will televise the game.

Jackson played in nine games, with four starts, for another playoff team this season before the Baltimore Ravens released him on Nov. 23. Jackson joined the Los Angeles practice squad on Dec. 23 and has played in both Chargers’ games since.

Jackson played 21 defensive snaps apiece in Los Angeles’ 40-7 victory over the New England Patriots on Dec. 28 and 34-20 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Jan. 5.

Jackson spent his first seven NFL seasons as a starter for the Chicago Bears, earned Pro Bowl selection in 2018 and 2019 and was a first-team All-Pro in 2018.

Jackson’s only postseason appearance came on Jan. 10, 2021, when the Bears lost to the New Orleans Saints 21-9.
