Looking for Christmas gifts? Maybe Mobile police unclaimed property auction can help
The holiday season is upon us, meaning Christmas shopping is in full swing. For Mobile area residents, the chance to find items at heavy discounts may just present itself at the Mobile Police Department.
The MPD is holding an Unclaimed Property Auction on Dec. 9 behind the department headquarters at 2460 Government Street.
Unclaimed property auctions typically offer a wide range of items which have been found throughout the city and, as the name suggests, never claimed by owners. Electronics, tools, lawn equipment, bicycles, purses, luggage and many other items will be available for bidding.
Mobile police note all items are sold “as is” and only cash payments will be accepted. Additionally, winning bidders must take possession of items at the auction — MPD will not hold them.
Registration for the auction will begin at 7 a.m. on Dec. 9, with bidding starting at 8 a.m.
