Look what Tua Tagovailoa gave his backups for Christmas

Decked out for Christmas, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa could hardly contain his excitement when it came time for the other members of his position room to open his presents to them.

As shown on Tuesday night’s episode of “Hard Knocks: In Season with the Miami Dolphins” on Max, Tagovailoa had four big presents. The former Alabama All-American clapped and laughed with glee as the holiday-wrapping paper came off to reveal what was inside for backups Mike White and Skylar Thompson, quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell and assistant quarterbacks coach Chandler Henley – golf simulators.

Tagovailoa might have gotten five golf simulators, but he said “Uncle” Dan Marino already had one. Marino had a Pro Football Hall of Fame career as Miami’s quarterback from 1983 through 1999. He now serves as a special advisor for the NFL team.

Marino passed out Isotoner gloves for Christmas to everyone in the room to applause and laughter. Marino served as a spokesman for the brand during his NFL career, delivering the tagline: “Take care of the hands that take care of you.”

When it was suggested the quarterbacks needed to compete in a golf challenge, Marino said: “Right after the Super Bowl.”

With two games remaining in the regular season, the Dolphins have secured a spot in the AFC playoffs. But Miami could slot in as the No. 1 seed, AFC East champ or wild-card qualifier.

At 11-4, the Dolphins play the only team in the NFL with a better record when they take on the 12-3 Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Miami completes its regular-season schedule against the Buffalo Bills on Jan. 7. At 9-6, Buffalo is the Dolphins’ closest pursuer in in the AFC East.
