Local stocks hitch a ride on a fast-rising national market Thursday
Stocks continued the longest rally for Wall Street in a year and a half Thursday.
The S&P 500 rallied 1.2% to reach heights untouched since April 2022. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 428 points, or 1.3%, while the Nasdaq composite rose 1.1%.
Stocks of interest locally were largely among the gainers, though Community Health Systems and Honda fell 1.7 and 1.5%, respectively.
Community Health Systems, which has one of its six Alabama hospitals in Foley, closed at $4.08.
Enviva, Target, Adtran and Synovus Financial Corp., all enjoyed gains of more than 3% on Thursday.
Target’s rebound from its recent 52-week low continued with a 3.5% increase to close at $137.84.
