Live updates: Kalen DeBoer previews Alabama football vs. Wisconsin on ‘Hey Coach’
Alabama football heads on the road this week for the first time this season.
Coach Kalen DeBoer will be taking the Crimson Tide to the Midwest to face Wisconsin in Madison. It marks the first true Big Ten road game for Alabama since Penn State in 2011.
Ahead of the matchup on Saturday (11 a.m. CT, FOX) at Camp Randall Stadium, DeBoer will sit down for his weekly radio show “Hey Coach” alongside Chris Stewart, the radio voice of the Crimson Tide.

- DeBoer was asked if there are any special travel routines for road games. He said they try to keep it as similar as they can for a home game. They’ll get to Wisconsin on Friday, have dinner and then some team meetings.
- “They’re used to getting up and rolling, so shouldn’t be too big of an adjustment for them,” DeBoer said of the morning kickoff.
- A phone caller said if you mess with Big Al, you get the tusks.
- DeBoer said he did some research on a few UA related subjects, such as “Roll Tide.”
- DeBoer said with an early game, you make sure you’re not too late the night before.

- DeBoer praised his players again for how they finished the USF game.
- DeBoer said “these guys want it more than anyone” talking about his players. He has liked how Alabama has practiced so far this week.
- DeBoer said going into a year, you have to have seven or eight offensive linemen to have good depth.
- “We’re in a better position this week than we were last week,” DeBoer said, talking about the health of Alabama’s offensive line.
- “I love Book” DeBoer said of Tyler Booker, praising how he can play guard and tackle.
- “He’s naturally a guy who’s going to be incorporated into the offense,” DeBoer said about Germie Bernard. … “He’s going to be a key player for us if we’re going to move the ball up and down the field.”
- On receiver snaps, “you’re working to figure out the best combination.”
- Peewee from Grand Bay’s question is about the Crimson Tide responding to the adversity it faced in USF game. DeBoer: “You watch the film and it isn’t a lack of effort,” DeBoer said.
- Jared from Madison, Wisconsin is on the phone. Jared asks about Alabama handling crowd noise and what the staff has done. Alabama already uses crowd noise during practices, even before home games.
- DeBoer said he’s never coached at Camp Randall Stadium, but he has been there. “It will be a great environment.” DeBoer said he expects Wisconsin’s best shot.
