Live updates from Friday’s Class 2A, 4A and 6A state championships
The AHSAA Super 7 football championships conclude today at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The three-game schedule includes the long-awaiting Class 6A battle between No. 1 Saraland, the reigning champion, and No. 2 Clay-Chalkville, the 2021 champion. That matchup includes reigning Alabama Mr. Football Ryan Williams, Texas QB commit KJ Lacey and Alabama commit Jaylen Mbakwe among others.
The day opens with the Class 4A title game between top-ranked and undefeated Montgomery Catholic and No. 4 Cherokee County, last year’s runner-up. The middle game features perennial small school power Fyffe against undefeated Reeltown.

10:38 AM, The matchup: Top-ranked Catholic comes in with a 14-0 record after a 28-0 semifinal victory over B.T. Washington. The Knights are looking for their first AHSAA state title. Cherokee County is looking for its first state title since 2009. The Warriors were in the game last year, losing to Andalusia. Center is 13-1 this year with their only loss coming in the regular-season finale against Fort Payne.
